1994: Un gruppo di professori di Roma costruisce un primo robot: motori LEGO, uno Z80 e cablaggi wire wrap. Il robot si piazzerà secondo in una competizione robotica tra scuole, forse il più anziano robot esploratore d’Italia. Parteciperà a più di 30 gare nell’arco della sua attività, vincendone molte. Nel 1996 alcuni studenti romani cominciano a cimentarsi nella competizione dei robot Explorer.
Nel 2000 Nasce la mailing list Roboteck, che si occupa di robotica e intelligenza artificiale sia a livello amatoriale sia professionale.
Il 2001 è l'anno dei microntrollori PIC 16F84. Per la prima volta si trovano a disposizione sul mercato programmatori low-cost e microcontrollori a buon prezzo.
Nel 2002 debutta il portale sulla robotica italiana: www.roboitalia.com.
Nel 2005 primo raduno italiano Roboitalia-Roboteck in un agriturismo in Emilia.
Officine Robotiche nasce come sito personale del nostro amico Ivan, come raccoglitore dei suoi progetti robotici. Dopo anni di Robotica e collaborazione con i vari gruppi Italiani, Ivan decide di dedicarsi ad altro e lascia per un breve periodo di tempo il sito in balia dello spam.
Non passa molto tempo che Raffaello ne raccoglie il testimone, e fa di Officine Robotiche il suo sito personale, riportando articoli di notevole interesse per gli appassionati, impegnandosi oltre che nella sua carriera universitaria a diffondere le sue conoscenze tecniche.
Nel frattempo il goliardico gruppo di robottari dell’ARRM, comincia a lavorare sempre più coeso su progetti comuni, fino a giungere all’idea di organizzare un evento Robotico Amatoriale a cui invitare tutti gli amici e non solo. E’ in questo frangente che nasce l’idea di utilizzare il nome Officine Robotiche, per identificare questo nuovo gruppo che si va a formare, e che riunisce oltre ai componenti storici dell’ARRM altri partecipanti attivi ai forum Roboteck e Roboitalia. In pochi mesi questo manipolo di personaggi sparsi per lo stivale, sfruttando le nuove tecnologie riesce a mettere in piedi una manifestazione con più di venti Robot esposti e ben sette workshop sul tema della Robotica.
Nel 2014 dopo la prima partecipazione attiva al Maker Faire di Roma, sono partiti diversi progetti come il rinnovamento del sito che diventa quello del gruppo, alcuni di noi hanno preso a lavorare duramente sulla scheda µNav e tutto quello che ci sarà intorno, ma non è l’unico progetto in lavorazione.
Il 2015 è l’anno della svolta, si ufficializzano le attività in un'Associazione di Promozione Sociale regolarmente costituita.  L’impegno di tutti è grande nell’organizzare il secondo evento di Officine Robotiche, che vede un incremento dei partecipanti, degli espositori, ma anche del pubblico che viene a trovarci, curioso di conoscere qualcosa in più su questo fantastico mondo. In questo anno, alcuni di noi prendono anche il volo, supportati da NVIDIA, per portare in mostra le loro creazioni Robotiche. La partecipazione al Maker Faire non è più singola, ma del Team Officine Robotiche, con nuovi amici e i loro progetti, che sono entrati a far parte del gruppo. E cambia anno dopo anno...

Di comune accordo abbiamo deciso di tornare a essere quel gruppo di amici che eravamo sempre stati e Officine Robotiche continua a vivere come una sorta di “brand”, come un progetto all’interno di AssoInnovazione.it che ne coprirà gli aspetti istituzionali!

La Robotica resta una passione che riesce a dare risalto alle qualità individuali di ognuno, la dedizione, l’inventiva, la sperimentazione, la costante voglia di aggiornamento e di conoscenza, abbattendo i limiti mentali che a volte ci affliggono in altri campi.

La robotica è un’attività complessa ma può dare grandi soddisfazioni se si è in grado di coniugare: meccanica, elettronica e informatica. 

1994: A group of professors from Rome builds the first robot: LEGO motors, a Z80 and wire wrap wiring. The robot will place second in a robotics competition between schools, perhaps the oldest explorer robot in Italy. He took part in more than 30 competitions throughout his career, winning many of them. In 1996 some Roman students began to try their hand at the Explorer robot competition.

In 2005, the first Italian Roboitalia-Roboteck meeting took place in a farmhouse in Emilia.

Officine Robotiche was born as a personal site of our friend Ivan, as a collector of his robotic projects. After years of robotics and collaboration with various Italian groups, Ivan decides to devote himself to something else and leaves the site at the mercy of spam for a short period of time.
It was not long before Raffaello took up the baton, and made Officine Robotiche his personal website, reporting articles of considerable interest to fans, and committed himself not only in his university career to spreading his technical knowledge.
In the meantime, ARRM's goliardic group of robotics began to work more and more cohesively on common projects, until they came up with the idea of ​​organizing an Amateur Robotic event to which they would invite all their friends and beyond. It is at this juncture that the idea of ​​using the name Officine Robotiche was born, to identify this new group that is being formed, and which brings together in addition to the historical members of the ARRM other active participants in the Roboteck and Roboitalia forums. In a few months this handful of characters scattered around the "stivale", taking advantage of new technologies, manages to set up an event with more than twenty robots on display and seven workshops on the subject of robotics.
In 2014, after the first active participation in the Maker Faire in Rome, several projects started such as the renewal of the site that becomes that of the group, some of us have started to work hard on the µNav board and everything that will be around it, but it is not the only project in progress.
2015 is the turning point year, the activities are made official in a duly constituted Social Promotion Association. Everyone's commitment is great in organizing the second event of Officine Robotiche, which sees an increase in participants, exhibitors, but also in the public that comes to visit us, curious to know something in more about this amazing world. In this year, some of us also take to the skies, supported by NVIDIA, to showcase their robotic creations. Participation in the Maker Faire is no longer single, but of the Officine Robotiche Team, with new friends and their projects, which have become part of the group. And keep on changing year by year...


By mutual agreement, we decided to go back to being that group of friends we had always been and Officine Robotiche continues to live as a sort of "brand". As a project within AssoInnovazione.it that will cover its institutional aspects!

Robotics remains a passion that manages to highlight everyone's individual qualities, dedication, inventiveness, experimentation, the constant desire for updating and knowledge, breaking down the mental limits that sometimes afflict us in other fields.

Robotics is a complex activity but it can give great satisfaction if you are able to combine: mechanics, electronics and information technology.
